Mike Dermody

Mike was born 1941 in Arnold, Nottinghamshire and has always been keen on art from an early age. He passed a scholarship at the age of 12 yrs to go to the Nottingham Technical School of Art but decided by the age of 15 yrs not to make it his career. Instead he entered the engineering profession, studied electronics and became a design engineer with a local company. His work took him to many places around the world and although it was very demanding it was also very rewarding. In September 2000 he retired early due to ill health. It was the ideal time for him to take up art again and so joined the Arnold Art Society the same year.
